Obituary

Ada Christine Unrue, daughter of the late Roy Elmer Smith and Luella "Lula" Wayne Smith, went home to be with her Lord on April 19, 2011 at 2:14 a.m., holding her son's hand at the Holbrook Nursing Home in Buckhannon.

She was born June 9, 1917 in Richwood, the eldest of ten children. In 1943, she married Cecil Delbert Unrue, making their home in Dunbar. After her husband passed away in February of 1997, she moved to Buckhannon to be close to her son.

She worked in Kanawha County all of her life, first working at the Dunbar Glass Plant with her mother and husband, then Cohen Drug, Rite Aid and finally Drug Emporium.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ferrell, three brothers, Ralph, Elmer and Calvin Smith, three sisters, Agnes, Francis Withrow and Audra Burroughs and two grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Hobert Ray Unrue and his wife, Carolyn; sisters, Anna Fisher, Alice Moody and Ruth Jacobs; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was a life-long member of the Northside Church of the Nazarene in North Charleston.

Ada instructed that there would be no funeral service. She was a no-frills LADY and was very determined that her wishes be followed to the letter.

Arrangements and private burial are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
