Alan James Short, 53, of Dunbar, died of a heart attack on Saturday, January 28, 2006, in Riverside Nursing Home after a long illness.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dunbar, where he was a deacon, Sunday School Teacher and choir member. He was a graduate of West Virginia State University. He received a master degree in teaching the hearing impaired from Western Maryland College. He was a former employee of West Virginia Rehabilitation Center, as a teacher for the hearing impaired.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert J. Short.
Mr. Short is survived by his mother, Crystal Short of Dunbar; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and David Ryan of St. Albans; one nephew and his wife, Matthew and Melissa Ryan and a great niece, Madeline Ryan of Pittsburgh, PA.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 31 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Thomas E. Stevens, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 30, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
