Alan Russell Young

Alan Russell Young, 75, of Dunbar, WV, passed peacefully on August 14, 2026, with his loving daughter by his side. He fought a courageous battle of metastatic melanoma cancer.

He was born July 25, 1951, in Charleston, WV, to the late Aubrey H. Young and Electa G. Henson Young.

Alan graduated from Dunbar High School and became the co-owner of the “Goal Line” bar in Dunbar, WV. He later worked for the Kanawha County Board of Education as a Janitor at the Dunbar Middle School where he retired. He proudly served his country in the Army shortly after high school graduation and was honorably discharged.

Alan was preceded in death by Electa G. Henson (mother), Aubrey H. Young (father), Eugene Young (brother), and Bobby Young (brother).

Those left to cherish his memories are Madisen E. Young (his one and only daughter) who lives in Dunbar, WV, and Greyson J. Strickland (grandson).

Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, is in charge of the arrangements. The family plans to have a memorial service in Alan’s honor at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be taking donations for death and burial expenses at the memorial service. If you prefer to make a donation to the Cancer Research Institute, you may do so.
