Alice Elizabeth "Betty" Knuckles, 85, of South Charleston, departed this life on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at home after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Betty was born on August 31, 1927 in South Charleston and remained a life-long resident. She was a member of Mallory Chapel/Spring Hill Church of Christ for 61 years.
She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all, but first and foremost, she was a Christian. She was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing or meeting her.
Betty enjoyed weekly gatherings surrounded by her family and friends while eating home cooked meals and playing games. She loved fishing, playing corn-hole, working puzzles, sewing, and feeding and watching the birds and squirrels outside her kitchen window. She is dearly loved and will be sadly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Gladys Mallory; husband, Leroy; sisters, June and Juanita; and brothers, C.E., Frank, Jim, Hubert, and Bob.
She is survived by her sisters, Barbara Knuckles, Exie McCune, and Greta Mallory; and brother, Forest Mallory. She is also survived by her children, Janet (Henry) Johnson, Liz (Charles) Richard, and Louie (Brenda) Knuckles; along with eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as many family and friends.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 28, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 1, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Steve Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at Fox Hill Cemetery.
