Alma Louise
"Tooie" Perkins
August 30, 1959 – August 15, 2025
Alma Louise "Tooie" Perkins (Hartman) of Point Pleasant, WV passed away unexpectedly in her home on August 15, 2025, just shy of what would have been her 67th birthday on August 30.
Born in Dallas, TX to the late Ruth P. Patterson and Ivan O. Hartman, Tooie later settled in the Ceredo-Kenova area, where she spent her formative years helping her Aunt and Uncle train horses on top of Barger Hill. After graduating from Ceredo-Kenova High School, she lived life vicariously—like a feather letting the wind control her destiny—yet staying true to her "Thundering Herd" roots.
Tooie led what many would call a true gypsy life, becoming a jack of all trades—skilled in healthcare, mechanics, and construction. Her passions extended far beyond work. She was deeply knowledgeable about horses, motorcycles, pool, gardening, indoor plants, sewing, and cross stitching. Anything tied to nature and animals brought her peace, but the ocean held a special place in her heart—especially when shared with friends and family, the sounds of classic rock in the background, and laughter from shared memories echoing in the air. A lover of seafood and a perfectly grilled steak, Tooie also cherished thrifting, attending church with her "grand-kiddos", and being lovingly referred to as "GiGi"—Goovy Granny.
Though life dealt her a hard draw, Tooie met every challenge with fierce resilience. She loved boldly and was just as deeply loved in return. With a piercing personality, eclectic style, and contagious laugh, she had a gift for uplifting the underdog, always speaking her truth and carrying a humble, God-loving soul.
In addition to her parents, Tooie was preceded in death by her Aunt Edna "Pinky" and Uncle Don Hutchinson; her sister, Martha "Marty" Schiller (Hartman); and her brother, John P. Truman— all natives of the Huntington/C-K area.
She is survived by her three beautiful daughters, Dana N. Holly of Mason,WV, Martha K. Corley-Paul of Bristol, TN, and Danielle Hill of Raleigh, NC; her beloved son-in-law, Jamar W. Paul of Dunn, NC; her cherished grandkids, Dylan R. Whitley, Dakota W. Dingess, Majaila Z. Corley-Paul, Damarjah D. Corley-Paul, and Jamarcus R. Corley-Paul. Also mourning her loss are many well-loved nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.
An honorable mention goes to her loyal fur baby, O'Malley, who remained by her side until the very end.
There are no services scheduled at this time.
A future celebration of life will be organized by Martha Corley-Paul and once finalized will be announced via Tooie's Facebook page (Alma Perkins). The family kindly asks that any pictures, memories, or condolences be shared on her Facebook page.
If you are able, please consider contributing toward cremation expenses by calling or sending a check to Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. The family would be deeply grateful—and we are sure Tooie wouldn't haunt you for thinking twice about it.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
