Alvin D. "A.D." McCormick, 90, of Dunbar, went home to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 after a long illness while surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 5, 1926 in Charleston, to the late Alvin David "A.D" Sr. and Betty McCormick.

A.D. was a life time Christian and attended Rock Lake Presbyterian Church. He attended Dunbar High School until his senior year when he went to the Greenbriar Military School and graduated in 1945. He enlisted in the Navy afterwards and served on the Wisconsin during World War II.

In 1947 he came to work with his father at A.D. McCormick Company and eventually took over the business until December of 2004.

He enjoyed fishing and square dancing. He loved to visit State Parks with his wife.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers; Paul and Joe McCormick and two infant brothers and his sister; Howell Browder.

A.D. is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years; Anita McCormick, daughter; Joy McCormick of Marietta, GA, son; Joe C. and wife Anne McCormick of Orlando, FL, brother; Johnny and wife Janet McCormick of Dunbar, two grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 3 step-children, 4 step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Rev. Rick McGuire officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar. Friends may call at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, one hour prior to the service Saturday.
