Anita J. Edwards Pickens, 88, of Cross Lanes, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020.

She was born on December 29, 1931 in Dunbar, to the late Dell and Mamie Edwards.

Anita's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for every occasion and holiday with all her kids and grandkids gathered around her. Her kitchen was always open to anyone needing a meal. Many holidays were spent with friends, family and sometimes strangers all celebrating together. Anita had a kind heart and was always willing to help others. She attended Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle and loved her church family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Selbert Pickens; son, Wayne Pickens; sisters, Irene Scipio, Ethel Cavender, Pat Mariani, Jean Keyes, Janet McFall; and brothers, Lowell Edwards and Amidee Edwards.

She is survived by her sons, Paul Pickens and wife Helen, Quinten Pickens, Brent Pickens and wife Lacey; daughter, Jan Cobb and husband Frank; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Rev. Tom Price officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
