Obituary

Anna Mae Young Pauley, 86, of Dunbar, passed peacefully into heaven on Friday, March 2, 2012.

Anna Mae was born May 9, 1925, the only daughter of Charles Berton Young and Gertrude Lacy Young. Anna Mae graduated from Elkview High School and retired from Verizon Communications. She married Donald Harrison Pauley, the love of her life, on April 12, 1947. There are no words to convey the deep and selfless love that Anna Mae and Don had for each other. Anna Mae and Don shared 56 years together until Don's passing in June 2003.

Anna Mae and Don had one daughter, Teresa Lynn, who was the joy of their lives. Together, they taught Terri to trust God and the importance of family. The positive influence and lasting impact of Anna Mae and Don's integrity, commitment to family, compassion for others, and work ethic will live on in everyone who knew them. Anna Mae had a kind and gentle soul who was always a lady. She never uttered a harsh word nor expressed an unkind thought. As DeeDee, she was devoted to her grandchildren, David, John, and Grace.

Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Pauley, and her precious brother, Ben P. Young.

Anna Mae is survived by her beloved daughter, Teresa Lynn Pauley Underhill of Charleston; three dearly loved grandchildren, David Underhill, and his wife, Alison of San Francisco, CA, Ensign John Underhill of Pearl Harbor, HI, Grace Underhill at home. Also, Anna Mae is survived by her brother, Charles Raymond Young of Charleston; sister-in-laws, Barbara Young of Ocean View, DE, Joan Pauley Reynolds Galford of Hurricane; several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 5, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Dr. Todd Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
