Obituary

Anna Marie Blaney Pleasant. 56, of Dunbar, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Hubbard Hospice House West after a short illness. She possessed qualities of endurance and resiliency until God called her, his faithful servant, home.

She was born on August 17, 1966 in Charleston, to the late Tyrone and Gloria Blaney.

At an early age Anna professed her life to Christ as a teen, she was a member of Greater Emmanuel Gospel Tabernacle. She was active in The Greater Emmanuel Choir, Sign Ministry, Dance Ministry, Usher Boards, and Praise Team. Her greatest love was the ministry of Miming. She was active in this Ministry for 23 years.

Anna graduated from Dunbar High School Class of 1985. Anna was a sprinter for Dunbar High School where she held a record in the 100 and 200 meter dash for 28 years. She worked for Charleston Kanawha Housing Authority for 18 years as well as Rite Aid as a pharmacy tech for 13 years.

She graduated with honors from the University of Phoenix with her undergraduate degree and Masters in 2021.

Anna, as all know, had a heart of gold and an infectious smile touching all that she knew and met. She loved her family and friends as well as her church family. She will be dearly missed by us all.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Julius and Maestella Blaney; maternal grandparents, Anna Marie Smith and Verna Smith; granddaughter, Saniya Russell; Anna Pearl Roy, whom she called Mom; sisters, Jessica Lee, Francis Lewis, Virginia Cook; brothers, David Roy and William Roy.

Anna is survived by her loving husband of nine years, Ronald Pleasant; children, Exavier Russell (Crystal), Curtis Russell (Nicole), Tarrica Blaney Hinton (Larry), Sasha Blaney, Amber Hall, Ronald Pleasant Jr., Kimberly Pleasant; brothers, Jerome Blaney, Tyrone Blaney, Derek Blaney, Michael Roy (Tina); sisters, Wanda Blaney, Linda Roy; grandchildren, Jazmiya, Kamari, Kayli, Kai'l, Camiyah, Trinity, CeAndrea, Cole, Avyon, Sarzayah, Nehemiah, Passion; aunts, Phyllis Prater, Portia Webb, Judy Price, Carolyn Robinson, Vicky Baskin; and a host of family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, at Grace Bible Church, Charleston, with Elder Theresa Coleman and Bishop Norman Jones officiating. Entombment will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Grace Bible Church, Charleston.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
