Annie Jane Black, 93, of Institute, went home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband on Tuesday, February 26, 2019.

She was born on May 4, 1925 in Marmet to the late Robert and Frankie Smith.

Annie was a graduate of Garnet High School in Charleston. She went to barber school and then went on to work at the WV Rehabilitation Center and several barber shops in the Charleston area. She remained sassy until the day of her passing.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry Black Sr. ; and her son, Harry Black Jr.

Annie is survived by her son, David Black (Brandi) of Dunbar; daughter, Denise Black of Institute; granddaughters, Chantel Black of Institute and Dakisha Smith (Jeffery) of Columbus, OH; niece, Nora Ann Daggett of Manassas, VA; and nephew, William Neal of Parkersburg.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Hubbard Hospice House West and Dr. John P. Lilly for their loving care.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 1, in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar, with Rev. Jimmy McKnight officiating.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
