Obituary

Annie Brady Tilley, 99, passed away on July 16, 2014 in Charleston, WV.

She was born on August 2, 1914 in Lamar, WV to the late Ambrose Everett and Belzora Webb Cook.

Annie was married to the late Edward Lee Sigmon of Roanoke, VA, they had five children before he passed away in 1943. She later married James Tilley of Herndon, WV and they also had five children.

Her grandson, Josh Wilson, shared this about Annie: she was an amazing lady, she marched with her first husband to Charleston, WV with the coal miners and listened to Mother Jones speak on the steps of the capitol. During the Great Depression she traveled as far west as Washington State to work picking fruit. She traveled all over the country, saw a great many things, and had interesting stories; I will miss hearing them.

Annie is survived by her eldest son, Ernest Lee Sigmon, Sr. of Waldorf, MD and daughter, Shirley Tilley Wilson of South Charleston, WV, who were both by her bedside when she passed; sister, Mae Gettner of Aberdeen, MD; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

There will be no service.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, WV.
