Anthony Lezel Morrison (Tony), 65, of Charleston, made a peaceful transition of life from Charleston Area Medical Center on Saturday, April 6, 2024 after a battle with cancer.

A native West Virginian, he was born on July 1, 1958, in Charleston, to the late William C. and Louise Morrison also known as "Cotton and Peaches".  Tony graduated from Charleston High School and earned an Associate in Applied Science Degree from West Virginia Northern Community College.  He served four years in the United States Air Force.  Three days before his departure he requested communion, and rededicated his life to Jesus Christ.  As his family members surrounded his sick bed, his final words were: "I am fine and ready to go home and be with the Lord."

He was preceded in death by his parents, William C. Morrison, Sr. and Louse Brooks Morrison; two sisters, Rachel Lynn Morrison and Nora kay Robinson; and his brother, Timothy Edward Morrison.

Tony leaves to mourn and cherish his memories, his daughter, Tionna Morrison of Charleston; son, Anthony Lexel Morrison, Jr. of Charleston; four grandsons, Anthony Lezel Morrison, Jr. II of Rhode Island, Josiah A. C. Morrison of Charleston, Anthony T. Foye, Jr. of Charleston, and Michael Shellman III of Charleston; sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline Marie and Bishop Norman Jones of Dunbar; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. William C. Jr. and Jacqueline Kay Morrison of Winter Park, FL; sister, Vanessa Ann Morrison of Lexington, KY, Tiffany Dawn Morrison of Austin, TX; brother, Jerry Andre Shelton of Charleston; four nieces, six nephews, and a host of great-nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Elder Carl R. King, Jr., Pastor, Power of Praise Apostolic Church, Inglewood, California officiating.

Family with received visitors one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
