Arnold Eugene (Gene) Adkins, 84, of South Charleston passed away on March 28, 2013. He was born April 11, 1928 to Leslie and Pearl Adkins of Branchland,

He had accepted Christ as his Savior and had a good relationship with the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Imogene Bays Adkins; brothers, Arlo Adkins, Lando Adkins, and George Adkins; and sister, Irene Adkins.

He is survived by his children, Frances Kay Adkins (Gallipolis, OH), Darene Adkins-Webb (Cross Lanes), Trena Fay Adkins (South Charleston), Eugene Vaughn Adkins (Teresa), Vickie Lee Wells (Kernersville, NC), Debra Horton (Loris, SC) and son-in-law George Webb (Cross Lanes); brothers, Chelcie Adkins (Coralie) of Huntington, Jennings Adkins (Joyce) of Barboursville, Lonnie Adkins (Margaret) of St. George, UT, Ellis Adkins of Branchland; sister, Addie Fay Davis of Huntington; grandchildren, Meredith Baldwin, Cameron Webb, Michael Randolph, Sabrina Legg, Jameson Adkins, Erika Beasley, and Stephen Wells; 12 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family extends a special thank you to Sweetbriar for their kindness, love, and care.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 2 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor George Webb officiating, assisted by Rev. Paul Baldwin and Rev. Gail Medley. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 1, at the funeral home.
