Arnold Leo Thomas, of Marmet, passed away April 6, 2012.
He was born in Charleston on July 29, 1927 to Kenna and Della Thomas.
Besides his parents, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Thomas; son-in-law, William Lepley; sisters, Lillian, Arbutis, Wanda, Margaret, Ruby and brothers, Roy, Earl and Tommy.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Carrie Cottrell Thomas; his step-son, Thomas Gunnoe, wife, Linda, and their daughter, Tonya Gunnoe and son, Dr. T. Brent Gunnoe, wife, Trecia, daughter, Leah; and his step-daughter, Dr. Charmaine Lepley and her son, Timothy Lepley and daughter, Pamela Hall, husband, Thomas, son, Brody. He is also survived by his wife Carrie Cottrell Thomas' daughters, Ann Munson, husband, Homer and their daughter Monica; Cheryl Akers, husband, Randall and their daughter, Carrie Ann Adam, husband, Johnny and daughter, Mari-Jane Pritt. He is also survived by one brother, Walter Thomas.
Mr. Thomas served in the United States Army, in the Pacific, during World War II. He retired from the Kanawha County Schools as a school bus mechanic. He enjoyed singing gospel music and was a former member of the Joy Echoes Quartet and the Praise Team at the Family Worship Center – Assembly of God in Chesapeake, WV.
The family would like to express gratitude to the dedicated doctors, nurses and staff at Hubbard Hospice House, especially Jo Baily, RN. Also, a special thanks to Joni Skeens, LPN for her excellent care and support. A special thanks to family, especially the church family and friends, for their continued support during the difficult months.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, at Keller Funeral Home in Dunbar, with the Pastor Terry Russell, minister at the Family Worship Center – Assembly of God in Chesapeake. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311 or to the building fund for the new Family Worship Center – Assembly of God in Chesapeake.
