Obituary

Arthur Vernon "John" Stout born August 23, 1921 in Diana, passed away peacefully at his home in Dunbar, on September 9, 2014 following a short illness.

John proudly served two tours in the Army during the Korean War and was a prisoner of war for thirty-one months before receiving an honorable discharge on Oct 29, 1953.

Prior to moving to Dunbar, he worked for many years for the New York Department of Highways before retiring on May 5, 1983.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Juanita Mcle Stout; father and mother, Lewis E. and Eva M. Stout; brothers, Arden, Howard and Clarence Stout; and sisters, Lula Mcle, Mamie Anderson and Nina Cunningham.

John is survived by his son, Larry (wife, Betty) of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; two granddaughters, Lauren and Kelly; one brother, Willard Stout of Diana; sister, Dorothy Young of Dunbar; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Hospice and the private caregivers who took such wonderful care of him during his illness.

Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Rev. Dr. Okey Harless officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service on Saturday at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
