Obituary

Austin Howard Carper, 59, of Cross Lanes, died Friday, December 21, 2018 at Putnam Center after a long illness.

He was a 1979 graduate of South Charleston High School and retired from the City of South Charleston in the maintenance department. He was a Christian and attended church when he was able. He was a lifetime member of NRA and loved to squirrel hunt. He lived his earlier years at Clio in Roane County and moved to South Charleston in 1973. He was always willing to help others in need. He loved his family and everyone who knew him will miss him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe Nelson Carper Sr.; maternal grandparents, Austin and Rosie Holbert Reynolds; paternal grandparents, Howard and Anna Ramsey Carper.

Austin is survived by his mother, Madgaline "Madge" Carper, whom he spent his entire life with; sister, Debra Payne (Greg) of Elkview; brother, Roscoe Carper II (Diane) of Lewisburg.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday December 29, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Mayford Witt officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday December 28, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar
