Barbara Joan Ferguson Sisco Hill, 89, Cross Lanes, went home to be with the Lord, March 9, 2019.

She was born in Charleston, the 5th daughter born to G.E. "Cap" and Lily Ferguson.

Barbara was a 1947 graduate of Garnet High School. She received her Bachelors degree in Music Education from West Virginia State College in 1951. She received her Masters degree in Education from West Virginia University in 1972. Barbara spent most of her teaching career at Tyler Elementary School. She went on to be principal at Tiskelwah Elementary School. She had a God-given desire for her students to learn and excel in the gifts and talents each one possessed.

She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Phi Delta Kappa. She was also a member of the Kanawha Valley Cloggers Association.

Barbara had many accomplishments and achievements; however she wants to be remembered for her love and commitment to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and to her family, friends, and students.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Bess Jones, Ashton Stovall, Grace Oliver, Lorna Robnett, and Betty Robnett.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, James M. "Butch" Hill; daughter Maria Sisco of Cross Lanes, and Cheryl Conard and her husband Spencer of Charlotte, NC; stepdaughters, Tamara Dawkins and Tonia Waiters, both of Charlotte, NC; stepson, James M. Hill of Durham, NC; granddaughters Jerrika Lynon and Jessica Lynon both of Cross Lanes; and stepgrandsons, Andre Dawkins of Oklahoma and Brandon Waiters of Colorado. She is also survived by many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She delighted in and celebrated each one with joy.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Ferguson Memorial Baptist Church, Institute.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
