Parrish
July 29, 1943 – October 13, 2023
Bernard Mason Parrish, 80, of Sissonville went home to be with the Lord with whom he recently accepted into his heart on Friday, October 13, 2023.
Bernard was a hard worker who worked for and eventually retired from the City of Charleston. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. For many years he was a member of the Mountain State Beagle Association. Bernard also loved the outdoors. He loved gardening, camping, and hunting, especially rabbits.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dollie Mae Parrish; wife, Paulette Fisher Parrish; bonus-son, Michael Shane Fisher; grandchildren, Samantha and Jesse Fisher, Steven "Mikey" Beane; and an infant son.
He is survived by his bonus-daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Beane (Steven); siblings, Roger Parrish (Janet), Wesley Parrish, Bernice Haynes (Harold Lee); grandchildren, Brandie Landers (Jamie), Christopher Beane, Kristen Beane, Michael Shane Fisher II (Cierra), Rachelle Fisher, Lexi Haynes; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. Bernard is also survived by a life long best friend and hunting buddy, Dale Whittington.
Bernard's grandchildren absolutely adored him, and thought he walked on water.
The family would like to give special thanks to Cedar Ridge for all of the love, support, and care of the last few years.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 21 at the mausoleum chapel in Floral Hills Gardens of Memories, Sissonville.
Family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
