Obituary

Bess Lois Robertson, 101, of South Charleston, went peacefully to our Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 11, 2014 surrounded by loved ones.

Bess was born on August 13, 1912 to the late Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Okey Godbey in Marmet. She married LeeRoy Robertson on October 29, 1929. Bess was a seamstress at Stone & Thomas and was a cook at St Albans High School. She was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. Bess's passions were her family and her church and she enjoyed sewing, bowling, and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her husband LeeRoy, to whom she was married for 63 years, and by her granddaughter Tammy Robertson, her 8 brothers Ray, Roy, George, Carl, Clyde, Harley, Bill, and Joe and her 2 sisters Nell and Macel.

Bess is survived by her son Wayne (Peggy) Robertson of Hurricane and daughter Mary Hanson of Parkersburg and 4 grandchildren, Terri (Sonny) Williams of Winfield, Carolyn (David) Ruffin of Parkersburg, Todd (Kim) Robertson of Denver, and Rick (Trish) Hanson of Nashville, along with 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank her faithful family and friends, as well as the staff at the Valley Center Genesis Healthcare and HospiceCare who lovingly cared for Bess.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastor Mark Patton officiating. Entombment will follow in the lower mausoleum at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to HospiceCare 1606 Kanawha Blvd., W. Charleston, WV 25387-2530 or their favorite charity.
