Bethel E. Ray, 96, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 6, 2017.

She was born August 7, 1920, to the late Anderson and Rosa Phillips.

Bethel joined South Charleston First Church of the Nazarene in 1993 and loved her church family very much.

She was married to Clifford Simmons for 30 years. He passed on June 9, 1967. She then married Cecil Ray March 20, 1970. He passed on June 10, 1984.

In addition to her parents and her husbands she is preceded in death by her two brothers; Glenn and Kemp Phillips, sisters; Dorothy Grimes, Esther Kerns and Madeline Thornton.

Bethel is survived by her sister; Betty Wiseman of South Charleston, and several nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

The funeral service will be Wednesday January 11, at 11am at South Charleston First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Kent Estep and Pastor Jenny Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.

Friends and family may call at the Church on Tuesday January 10, from 6pm to 8pm.
