Betty Mae Paxton Barrett, 90, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at HospiceCare at Charleston Memorial.

Betty was born on September 22, 1933 to the the late Father Herman Paxton (Florance) and Anna Macel Hull in Walton, WV.

She was a life long resident of Dunbar.  After retiring from Volkswagen, Betty went back to school to become a beautician, then once again retired from Fantastic Sam's in 1997. She was a devoted mother and grandmother which was evident when she chose to stay home and take care of her great-grandchildren.  When Betty wasn't taking care of and spending time her family, she enjoyed traveling the beautiful state of West Virginia, crocheting blankets for friends and family, and reading a good book.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death her loving husband of 34 wonderful years, Russell Barrett; daughters, Phyllis Ingram, Betty Jean Ingram, and Judy Ingram; brothers, Forrest Ray Paxton (Erma), William Ronald Paxton, David Paxton (Charlotte); and sister, Eloise "Corkey" Pickering (Earl).

She is survived by her brother, Brady Paxton; sons, Dale Ingram (June) and Gary Ingram; grandchildren, Lisa Bishop (Terry) and Patrick Ingram; along with, six great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like send a "very special thank you to the HospiceCare nurses and nurses at MICU at Memorial for their wonderful care."

A funeral service will be held at 1p.m. on Thursday, October 26 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with burial to follow in Grandview Memorial Park.

Family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
