Roxalana girl, Betty Joy King Spurlock, left this earthly life on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Kanawha Place in Charleston at the age of 93.

She was a faithful Christian all of her life. She was a member of the Roxalana EUB Church for many years. Betty was also a member of the Hernshaw United Methodist Church.

When Betty was an older teenager, she would walk around the hill and read and discuss the Bible with Mr. Hudson, who was a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Okey L. And Edna Stone King; sister, Imelda June King Wolfe; her first husband, Olin Johnson; and her second husband, William Spurlock.

Betty is survived by her brother, Okey L. King Jr. and wife Carolyn; nephew, Okey L. King III; niece, Joy Price and husband David; nephew, Steve Wolfe; great-nephew, Jonathan King and wife Shyla; great-nieces, Maria LeAnn Price, Sarah Viancourt and husband Jim; 2nd great-niece, Nevaeh Grace King; great-nephew, Shey Viancourt; step 2nd great niece, Lily Blankenship; step-son, David Spurlock; and step-daughter, Kathy Collins.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 12, at Hernshaw United Methodist Church, Hernshaw, with Pastor Chris Keyser officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Hernshaw United Methodist Church, Hernshaw.
