Betty Jean Tawney's Obituary
Betty Jean Sheppard Tawney, 74, of Cross Lanes, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2007 in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
She was born on April 18, 1933 in Tariff, WV to the late Boyd and Vae Sheppard. Betty was a graduate of Spencer High School Class of 1950. She was formerly employed by Bank of Dunbar and Charleston National Bank. She was a member of Community Chapel Church, Cross Lanes.
Mrs. Tawney is survived by her husband, E. J. "Jerry" Tawney, a son, Jeffery J. Tawney of Cross Lanes, a daughter, Deborah Jean Bradley of Scott Depot; her brother, Gerald Sheppard of Spencer; her sisters, Eleanor Hunt of Pinch, Carol Board of Spencer, Sue Haddox of Fairmont; her grandchildren, Angela Bradley, Jennifer Bradley, Adam Tawney; 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 28, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Mark Hess and Pastor Phillip Conn officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Clover Cemetery, Spencer.
Friends may from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, August 27, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to: HospiceCare, 1143 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064.
