Obituary

Beulah Mae Scarberry Burns, "Boo", 80, of South Charleston, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2007, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

She retired from the Thomas Memorial Hospital after 38 years of service in the nursing unit. She was born on September 12, 1927, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Lucy Scarberry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, C. Robert "Bob" Burns, her infant son, Phillip Harold, sister, Edna and brothers, Melvin and Harold Lawrence, Jr.

She was a member of Mallory Chapel for over 40 years.

Mrs. Burns is survived by her daughters, Carol Creighton and her husband, John, and Sherri Stark and her husband, Jim; her sons, R. Gary Burns and Jimmie K. Burns; sisters, Wilma Neal of Spring Hill, Phyllis Johnson of Hurricane, Brenda Edwards of Clayton, IN; brothers, William "Bill" Scarberry of South Charleston and Kenneth "Kenny" Scarberry and his wife, Nancy of South Charleston; grandchildren, Julie Rowsey, Sarah Burns Governale, Carrie Creighton Jarrell, Mark Burns, Kristin Burns LeMasters, Kevin Burns and Michael Burns and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving are her extended family, cousins, The Scarberry boys of Pittsburgh, PA.; and special friends, Lois Gray, Deloris Taylor, Stacy Hissom and JoAnn Pauley.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Minister Bill Kinder officiating. Burial will follow in Fox Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 25, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
