Beulah Elizabeth Koster of Dunbar, died September 26, 2012, surrounded by her family at Sweetbrier Memory Unit.
Born February 26, 1916 in Jackson County, WV, she was one of four daughters of the late Holly H. and Ella Bennett.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Ernest C. in 1996 and by her sisters, Beatrice Hite, Pam Gorrell and Pauline Vickers and by an infant daughter, Marie.
She is survived by her three children, Ronald (Denise) of Winfield, John (Cindy) of Cross Lanes and Barbara of Dunbar. She has five grandchildren who were the love of her life-Sara Koster Lacy of Cross Lanes, Brian Koster of Huntington, Hannah Koster of Cross Lanes, Mary (Koster) Dorsey of Cross Lanes and Nicolas Koster of Cross Lanes. She has four great grandchildren-Brittany, Gary, Jakob and Bennett. She also has many nieces and nephews.
Beulah was a graduate of Mt. State Business College, worked at Fletcher Enamel for a short period of time and then became church secretary for 25 years at Humphreys Memorial United Methodist Church, Dunbar. She was a sixty-plus year resident of Dunbar and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Dunbar Chapter for over 50 years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women of Humphreys Memorial United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
Beulah was a wonderful, loving and giving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved cooking, baking and having family dinners at the house.
Funeral services will be held at the Dunbar United Methodist Church, Humphreys Sanctuary, at 7 p.m., Saturday, September 29, with the Rev. Dr. Okey Harless and the Rev. Mark Jarrell officiating. Private burial will take place on Monday.
Friends may call at the church two hours prior to the service on Saturday evening.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dunbar United Methodist Church Endowment Fund or to the Appalachian Children's Chorus.
The family thanks her personal caregivers while at home, the staff at Sweetbrier Memory Unit for their attention and care and to HospiceCare for their care, comfort and support.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
