Beulah Marie
Riffee
December 1, 1920 – June 20, 2017
Beulah Marie Riffee, 96, of Charleston, was called to Heaven on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Broadmore Senior Living after a long illness. Her two daughters were with her at the time of her passing.
Beulah was a born nurturer that lived every day of her life caring for and putting the needs of others ahead of her own.
She was born on December 1, 1920 on Jim Ridge in Putnam County. She moved to the Tyler Mountain area in the early 1940s, where she remained for the rest of her life.
She was a homemaker by trade, and what a home she provided for her loved ones. She took wonderful care of her family. From her siblings early on, to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she showed an incredible love and care that is difficult to describe with the written word.
If you were around Beulah, you knew you were safe, you knew you were cared for, you knew you were loved, and you most certainly knew you would be well fed.
Beulah showed her love for others in everything that she did. She kept an immaculate home so that friends and family would find it a comfortable place to gather. She cooked incredible meals for all to share. She took great pride in the flowers and plants she grew around her house, the flora reflecting her beautiful spirit and the loving, welcoming atmosphere she strived to create every day.
Beulah enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and keeping house. She loved animals and took incredible care of her pets and her family's pets through the years. Beulah became a Mountaineer sports fan later in life when her grandson's obsession rubbed off on her. She loved to spend time with her late husband, Alva, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy on a nightly basis.
Beulah was a loyal and dedicated member of McKinnon Memorial Presbyterian Church on Tyler Mountain for over 60 years. She loved to be around her friends and neighbors at church and volunteered her time to help with vacation bible school, was a member of the women's circle, and loved to provide for covered-dish dinners.
Beulah's legacy is that of a caring, loving, nurturer, with an innate ability to make those around her feel special, and to feel a very rare and precious form of love. She gave us all a love that everyone would be fortunate to receive at some point in their lives. Simply put, she set the family standard for how you treat others.
Beulah is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Riffee and Dolores (Harold) Wilkes; son, Wayne (Aurora) Riffee; six grandchildren, that she loved, Cheryl (Ronnie) Evans, Karen (Chad) Berrier, Michael Riffee, Michelle Rabieh, Drs. Sarah (Brian) Price and Christopher Marshall; nine great-grandchildren, that she cherished, Ryan Evans, Chase Evans, Kayleigh Tyler, Zachary Tyler, Sean Berrier, Nour Rabieh, Jackson Price, Ashlyn Price and Ainsley Price.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Broadmore Senior Living and HospiceCare for their compassionate care over the last three years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W., Charleston, WV 25387.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. , Monday, June 26, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Rev. Doug Minnerly officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
