Billie Jane Waugh, 84, of Cross Lanes peacefully went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2015 surrounded by family and friends, after a 2 year battle with lung cancer.
She was born July 9, 1930 in Glenville, a daughter of the late Hannibal and Effie Mae Brannon. Billie worked for J.C Penny's, was a Nurse's Aide at St Frances Hospital, and worked for a short time at Go Mart.
She married George Waugh on March 19, 1949. They were married until his death on December 14, 2010. They enjoyed cooking, camping and traveling. A friendly game of cards could often be found at their campsite or home. Billie was known around the neighborhood as a person that helped others. Several children could often be found playing in the yard. She was a Christian.
In addition to her parents and husband, Billie was preceded in death by her sisters, Tinsy Brannon, Cozette Burdette and Jinny Asbury; and sister in law Louise Brannon.
She is survived by her son, Rodney and Judy Waugh; daughter Penny and Allen Gamber; brother Eddie of Maryland; grandchildren Alanna Gamber, Melissa Waugh, Joey Gamber; and great grandchildren Kira Pilloud, and Kaylie Pilloud.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, January 30 at Keller Funeral Home in Dunbar.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
