Billy Gene Snead, 78, of Dunbar, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at CAMC –Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

He was retired from the WV State Auditor's Office and was a US Marine Corp veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Snead was a member of the Dunbar First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, David Glenn Snead and step-grandson, Johnny Holt, III.

Surviving are his loving wife, Edna Carleene Snead; sons, Michael Stephen Snead and his wife, Michelle of Ball Ground, Ga. and Larry Snead and his wife, Sibyl of Ga; step-son, John Holt and his wife, Barbara of St. Albans; daughters, Nina Snead Smith and Connie Snead Reep and her husband, Daniel, both of NC; sisters, Janet Slawter of St. Albans, Barbara Douglas and her husband, Carl of Arlington, Tx and Susie Sears and her husband, Kenneth of Cincinnati, OH. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 12, at the Dunbar First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Thomas E. Stevens, Jr. officiating. Entombment with military rites will be at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
