Brenda Mae
Carter Saddler
February 9, 1955 – November 4, 2025
Brenda Mae Carter Saddler transitioned on November 4, after a long illness. She was a woman whose warmth, laughter, and love touched everyone she met. Born in Charleston, West Virginia, Brenda was the eighth child of fifteen children to the late James S. Carter and Savannah P. (Carter) whom was later known as Mother Edwards by matrimony.
Brenda graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School and went on to dedicate her life to caring for others. For over 20 years, Brenda operated her own home daycare, creating a safe and loving environment for countless children before retiring.
Brenda's faith was the foundation of her life. Baptized at an early age at Riverview Baptist Church, she later became a devoted member of First Baptist Church. She lobed being active in her church community singing in the choir, sharing her joy through music, and lending her talents wherever needed.
Brenda had many passions, she loved to cook, play the guitar, dance, and fill every room with her vibrant spirit. She had a gift for conversation, Always leaving you with a smile. When she agreed with you, she'd say, "Dig It," and when it was time to part ways, her signature farewell was "Late Gate."
Brenda was preceded in death by her stepfather William D. Edwards and mother Savannah P Edwards siblings Robin J. Carter, Cherrly "Cookie" Perkins, Merriel "Sissy" Tyler, Diane "Tweety" Carter, Joan M. Taylor, Carolyn "Niecy" Lewis and Sandra "Baybay" Abnathy.
Brenda leaves behind her loving husband of 28 years, Pinckney Saddler. Their union was a beautiful testament to love and devotion with a bond filled with laughter, strength, and unwavering affection. Brenda also leaves cherished memories with her siblings: brothers Bishop James S. Carter Jr., Jan Carter, Michael Carter, Eric (Melissa) Edwards, and William (Diane) Edwards; sisters Debbie Solomon and Elder Theresa Coleman. In addition, Brenda is lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and countless friends whose lives she touched.
