Brenda Kay Jenkins-Peters, 73, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 21, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on March 30, 1951, in Charleston, to the late Carl and Orean Johnson.

Brenda was a 1969 graduate of Sissonville High School.  After graduating, for many years she worked different jobs in the customer service field calling people about windows, doors, and garage doors before becoming a housekeeper at Thomas Memorial Hospital where every stranger turned into a friend.  After retiring, she became an avid anthophile due to the love of her garden and working with flowers outside. Brenda always stayed busy on pretty days.  She started doing craft in the winter months just to stay busy.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Peters; her brother, Terry Johnson; and great niece, Ashley Johnson Gunn; niece, Norma Newhouse Redman; and her four legged baby, Nadia.

Brenda is survived by her sister, Joyce Newhouse of Charleston; brother, John Johnson and wife Cynthia of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to send appreciation to CAMC Cancer Center for their kindness and hospitality.  They would also like to thank Cedar Ridge nursing home for all they did to keep Brenda comfortable at her time of need.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with family friend Wesley Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.

Friends may visit one prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
