Burzener "Zennie" Bego

Burzener “Zennie” Bego went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 25, 2026. Born on February 1,1967, she was the youngest child of Burzener and Joseph Bego. Zennie was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Zennie grew up in Dunbar, West Virginia, where she attended and graduated from Dunbar High School. She continued her education at West Virginia State College, proudly earning her degree in Counseling Psychology and developing a lifelong love for her HBCU. While attending State, Zennie met and fell involve with Greg Miles. They later married and became the proud parents of their daughter, LaShawnda.

Zennie lived in Edgefield, South Carolina, before returning to Dunbar, West Virginia, where she raised her beloved daughter. She had a true passion for uplifting and helping others. While working at Job Corps, she founded Ladies With a Vision, an organization dedicated to mentoring and helping develop the young lives she touched. After courageously battling and overcoming breast cancer, Zennie founded Strong Sisterhood in Pink to provide encouragement, support, and strength to other women facing breast cancer.

Zennie also worked as a social workers, helping families develop parenting and life skills. Her life was marked by kindness, compassion, encouragement, and a willingness to support everyone whose path she crossed.

Zennie enjoyed spending time with her family and creating beautiful memories with those she loved. As a Yellow Jacket, each year you could find her at Homecoming and various other alumni events. Through her business Z’s Designs, Zennie demonstrated her passion for event planning. Her creativity and love for bringing beauty to special occasions brought joy to many. Above all, Zennie cherished her family. Her daughter, LaShawnda, was her greatest joy. Her love, strength, and legacy will continue to live on through her family and all those fortunate enough to have known and been loved by her.

Zennie was preceded in death by her mother, Burzener Bego; her father, Joseph Bego; and her sister, Cleo Watkins. She leaves to cherish her previous memory and carry forth her legacy her beloved daughter, LaShawanda Miles; Greg Miles; and her cherished granddaughters, K’Oira, Katelyn, and Kaylah Hunter; brothers, Joseph Faulkner III and Cletus Bego; sisters, Rebecca (Sidney) Anderson and Stephanie Bego; and her best friend, Leroy Howell. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.

Though Zennie’s presence will be deeply missed, her love, kindness, strength, and beautiful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the love, prayers, support, and kindness shown during their difficult time of loss. Your thoughtfulness and support are deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 11, at All Nations Revival Center, Dunbar. Entombment will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at All Nations Revival Center, Dunbar.
