Carl Junior Higginbotham, 93, of Dunbar, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2022 at Teays Valley Genesis Center in Hurricane.

He was born on November 10, 1928 in Poca, and was the last surviving member of the late Carl M. And Euna Page Higginbotham's family.

Carl moved to Dunbar in the 1940's where he spent the rest of his life. He entered the United States Air Force in 1945, served two years and received the Victory Medal. Carl was a very successful businessman in the Charleston, Dunbar, Nitro and Hurricane area. In 1980, he was appointed the West Virginia Ambassador of Good Will Among All People.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Eubanks Higginbotham; brothers, Leonard Edward and Gerald Ray; and sisters, Katherine Fay Lemon and Janet Lee Cunningham.

Carl is survived by his sons, Anthony R. Higginbotham and James Rogers; daughters, Karla Barker, Lisa Marker, Kelly McGilton and Lori Gilbert; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar.
