Carl Eugene Smith's Obituary
Carl Eugene "Smitty" Smith, of Summerville, SC, formerly of Teays Valley, entered into eternal rest on the morning of Saturday, December 12, 2009.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, December 15, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Keller Funeral Home in Dunbar.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 16 at 1 p.m., in the chapel at Keller Funeral Home with burial following at Grandview Memorial Park in Dunbar.
Gene Smith was born on August 5, 1921, in Bee, WV. He had been a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 625 since 1952. He was a veteran of the Coast Guard and served during World War II.
Gene loved his family and was an avid sports enthusiast, especially with Marshall and West Virginia football and basketball and never missed a game on TV.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Kathleen Smith; daughter, Beverly Hauschilt; son-in-law, Terry Hauschilt of Summerville, SC; grandsons, Roger E. Hartley and wife Melissa of Tucson, AZ, Ronald E. Hartley and wife, Mary of Lake Zurich, IL, Terry Hauschilt, II and wife, Marsha of Myrtle Beach, SC and six great grandchildren.
