Carlon M. Means, 71, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 27, 2009.
He was born on February 12, 1938 to the late Roy and Thelma Means. Carlon was a U. S. Navy veteran, having served in Lebanon and worked at W. Q. Waters Co. Carlon was gifted with a wonderful sense of humor and could easily strike up a conversation with friends and strangers alike.
He was preceded in death by his best friend and wife of 35 years, Cora Jane "Janie" Ellison Means.
He is survived by his loyal canine companion, "Buster." Also surviving are his sister, Shirley Phalen of Boston, MA; brother, Ralph Means of South Charleston; brothers-in-law, Tom Ellison of South Charleston, Larry Ellison of South Charleston, Kevin Ellison of Covington, Va; sisters-in-law, Freda Champe of South Charleston and Linda Caya of Georgia; nephew Josh Ellison; niece, Kristy Ellison and three great nieces, Kinsley, Victoria and Emma Ellison of South Charleston.
Pastor Leston Followay and family welcome prayers for Carlon's graveside service at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Graceland Memorial Park in South Charleston where he will be reunited with his true love, Janie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
