Obituary

Carlos Jay Kiser, 76, of Charleston, WV passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

He was born on January 7, 1950 in Charleston, WV, to Bernice K. Blankenship and Herbert G. Kiser.

He was an Army Veteran that served in the Vietnam War.  Upon his return home, he was awarded two Purple Hearts and one Bronze Medal.  After, he was a popular mechanic known for his particular skill in building and rebuilding engines.  Another trade in which he was very skilled was as an electrician.  He enjoyed fishing, car shows, road trips, the beach, and driving on scenic roads.

He was preceded by his daughter, Alicia M. Kiser, and his sister, Debra Kiser.

Surviving loved ones include his sons, Jason Kiser (Lauren) and Joshua Kiser; his grandson, Ross Kiser; his brothers, Herbie, Johnny, and Mike; his sisters, Delores and Belinda; along with extended family and friends whom he dearly loved.

A visitation will take place from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

A graveside service will follow in Kiser Memorial Cemetery, Kentuck, Jackson County.

Directions to Cemetery:  FROM CHARLESTON: take I-77 North to Kenna Exit 124.  Turn right on Kentuck Road (CR-19), travel approximately 3.6 miles, the Kentuck road appears to end, turn left and stay on Kentuck Road traveling  approximately 3 miles, road splits, make a right on Gandee Road 19/10, drive .7 miles and make a right, drive about a mile, cemetery is on the right side of the road in view.  Pull up and unhook chain and will or drive over to the cemetery, about 50 yards.
