Obituary

Carol Elizabeth Clark, 94 of Tyler Mountain passed away on Tuesday, September 27 after an extended illness.

She was born at Kayford, WV on April 29, 1917. She married the late John Clark and for the first 49 years of her journey on earth she raised 8 children. She was a very loving mother and though she struggled many times she always put her children first. At the age of 49, Carol embarked on her 2nd journey in life by becoming an LPN and was employed a CAMC General Hospital for 18 years. During this phase of her journey she was a very dedicated nurse and loved every minute of taking care of the patients. The third phase of her journey was retirement due to an eye disability. This was one of the hardest parts of her life because she wanted to continue working. She did spend her time being devoted to her 2 handicapped sons who lived with her. She was able to help them in many ways as they were both very helpful to her as she grew into her later years of life. On Tuesday, Carol entered into the fourth and final phase of her journey by having the angels come to greet her and take her to heaven to be reunited with all the loved ones waiting for her. Her parents, Rosa and Ross Howell, her sons, James "Pete" and Delmar "Bud" Clark; her daughter, Nancy Francisco; her grandson, Richard Clark; sister, Josephine Coen and brothers Denver and Donald Howell.

She is survived by her sons, John Clark of Tyler Mountain and Donald Clark of Poca; daughters, Betty Baxter of Paraguay, South America, Joyce Salisbury of South Charleston, Ruby (Darrell) Shaffer of Nitro; daughter in law, Linda Clark of South Charleston; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 30, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Terry Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
