Carol Lynn Hintz, of Dunbar, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Thomas Memorial Hospital.

She was a graduate of Dunbar High School and the WVU Institute of Technology. Carol was a registered nurse, having worked at various area hospitals and was the recipient of many distinguished awards during her years in the nursing profession. She was a member of the Dunbar Church of the Nazarene.

Carol was preceded in death by her father, Opie Drexel Smith and by her brother, Terry D. Smith.

Surviving are her children, Jason Hintz and his fiancé, Melanie Wright of Dunbar and Brianna Hintz also of Dunbar; her significant other, Larry Young; mother, Amie Smith of Dunbar; sister, Sandy Poe, and her husband, Jim of Spring Hill. Carol is also survived by her three grandchildren, Savannah and Sophia Hintz and Cannon Hintz; nieces and nephews, Jamie Snodgrass and her husband, John of Morgantown, Judy Pray and her husband, Josh of Independence, KY, Tanner Smith and his wife, Elizabeth of Jacksonville, Fla, Tyler Smith and his wife, Malea of Cross Lanes; three great nieces, one great nephew and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 31, at Dunbar Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Philip Bowles and the Rev. Ned Crouch officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
