Winfield resident, Carol Kallay, age 64, was called to heaven on October 18, 2013.

Formerly from Newark, Ohio, she was born to Orval L. Cross and Maxine (Radwell) Cross on May 1, 1949. She was a 1967 graduate of Newark High School. She held an elementary education degree from Glenville State College in Glenville, W.Va. She also held an MA degree from West Virginia University in elementary education. Carol taught third grade at Belmont Elementary School in Belmont, W.Va., for several years, and was honored as Teacher of the Year in 1984.

Carol is survived by her nephew, Abraham L. Cross and his wife, Lisa, and their four children, cousins Rachel Shuler and Rita Dale, special friends Ramona Jewell and Carol Hoffman, and by many friends and cousins, in Ohio and West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Kallay, and her brother, Gary L. Cross.

Upon her request, there will be no services and Carol will be cremated.
