Carol Elaine Sargent Merrifield, 70, of Dunbar, went to her heavenly home after an extended illness on Friday, September 8, 2023.

She was born on February 28, 1953 in Charleston, to the late Wilmer and Oma Sargent.

Elaine was a graduate of Dunbar High School and the School of Cosmetology.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Chester R. Sargent Sr.; and sisters, Helen Spencer and Joyce Fizer.

Elaine is survived by her son, Eric Merrifield of Dunbar; grandchildren, Christian, Cody and Chloe; brother, Kenneth Sargent (Mary) of Dunbar; sisters, Wanda Mynes of Dunbar, Wilda Young of Teays Valley, Loretta Jividen of Dunbar; sister-in-law, Dolores Sargent of Dunbar; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit from 1 pm to 2 pm on Wednesday, September 13 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. A private family service will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
