Cochran

Carolyn L. Cochran, 79, of Charleston, went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2021.
Born on May 7, 1942 in Mount Hope, she was the eldest of seven children to the late William L. and Margaret R. Jackson.
Carolyn was a 1961 graduate of Charleston High School and was united in marriage to Earl Cochran in 1964.
She was brought up in the church from an early age. Carolyn always had a servant's heart. She was always active in the life of the church until her health made it impossible. Carolyn was a member of the Glorious Church of God in Christ, and later at First Baptist Church, both in Charleston. She enjoyed hearing the choir on Sunday mornings and the sermons was always a comfort to her soul.
Carolyn loved to decorate and was highly skilled in interior design. She enjoyed shopping of all sorts and enjoyed her jobs at the United States Post Office and as a retail worker at Mountain Mission; from which she retired. She lived a full life as a wonderful mother and homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Cochran and sister Margaret Ann Walton.
Left to mourn Carolyn's departure are her daughters, Cheryl Courts, Cynthia E. Cochran, Carolyn R. Cochran (Lee Dyess), all of Charleston, Theresa Whitehead (Charles) of Ashland, KY,; and her son, Michael Brown of Charleston; sisters, Cathy Courts and Rita Jackson of Charleston; brothers, William L. Jackson, Jr. (Jaqueline) of Roanoke, VA, Sidney Jackson of Jacksonville, FL, Joseph Jackson (Joline) of San Francisco, CA; aunt, Rosalee Edwards of Joliet, IL; brother-in-law, Roland Walton of London; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, at the First Baptist Church, Charleston, with Pastor Paul Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the First Baptist Church in Charleston.
