Carolyn Joyce Estep, née Moore, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 in Charleston, West Virginia, on November 26, 2025.

Born on October 10, 1941 to parents Harry and Christine Moore, Carolyn spent her early years in Kanawha City as the youngest of five children. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Trevecca Nazarene College, graduating in 1963 as one of the college's first woman valedictorians.

At Trevecca, Carolyn met Morton Lee Estep, who she married in 1962. Their marriage spanned 63 years and saw the birth of two sons—Kent Alan and Bradley Keith—as well as over forty years of shared ministry in the Church of the Nazarene, including 38 years of faithful service at South Charleston First Church of the Nazarene. Together, they enjoyed 15 years of retirement in St. Augustine, Florida.

A talented organist and pianist, perennial volunteer, lover of word games, and lifelong learner, Carolyn was a constant source of advice, encouragement, generosity, prayer, and love for her husband, children, grandchildren, and community. "God has been better to me than I could ever merit," she once wrote. "One of the greatest blessings is a warm and loving family."

She is survived by her husband, Morton Estep; her sons, Kent (Kelly) Estep and Brad (Dawn) Estep; and her grandchildren, Ross (Mackenzie Walker) Estep, Christopher Estep, Hope (Andy) Flavin, and Katherine (Noah) Balch.

A memorial service celebrating Carolyn's life will be held on January 16, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of South Charleston First Church of the Nazarene.  Dr. Bradley K. Estep will be officiating.
