Carolyn Sue Spradling, 88, passed way surrounded by her family on July 15, 2023 in Charleston after a long battle with dementia.

She was born on November 29, 1934 in Terra Alta, to the late John and Helen King.

Carolyn graduated from Dunbar High School and went on to marry James C. Spradling. They had three children and resided in Sissonville. She ran the Dairy Queen on Rt. 21 for 12 years and then retired from CAMC Memorial after 30+ years. She enjoyed attending the various events for her children and grandchildren which include football, basketball, softball, wrestling, and majorette. She loved and doted on her six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Christmas was always a big event for her as well as summer vacation with her family

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Spradling; her son, James "Jimmy" William Spradling; brother, John King; and daughter-in-law, Theresa Good Spradling.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Greg Spradling and wife Lori of Calabash, NC; daughter, Nola Landers and husband Craig of Charleston; grandchildren, Jamie Spradling of Charleston, Amber Vickers and husband BJ of Charleston, James Spradling and wife Emily of Teays Valley, Chris Landers of Charleston, Taylor Sisson of Charleston, Whitney Dean and husband Scott of Hubert, NC, and11 great-grandchildren including James Spradling, Carleigh Hull, and Cheyenne Vickers with whom she was very close.
