Caryl W Ostrander, 88, of Hurricane, WV went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Hubbard House West in South Charleston, after a short illness.

He was a graduate of Breckenridge High School, in Breckenridge, Minnesota. He continued his education at Spartan School of Aeronautics, Tulsa, Ok from 1949-1950, The University of Alaska, College, Alaska 1953, and Graduated from St Louis University with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Meteorology June 4, 1957. In addition to serving in the US Air Force, he was a WWII Veteran and also served in the Army Air Corps. He was employed by the Federal Government as a Meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Charleston, and later transferred to the National Weather Service in Chicago, Ill before retiring. This was a job he truly loved.

Born on January 24, 1926 in Lodi, Wisconsin, he was the son of William and Dolly Ostrander. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Guy Ostrander, and his son, Bruce Ostrander.

He is survived by his wife, Esther Lee Ostrander; sons, Jack and his wife MaryAnn of Cincinnati, Ohio; Vern and his wife Vickie of Sardinia, Ohio, brothers, Burl, Charles and Robert Ostrander; step-daughters Vicki Holtsclaw (James) of Nitro, Brenda McClelland (James) of Hurricane; Tamma Francis of Hurricane; step-son Stephen Francis of Haverhill, Ma and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Hurricane Church of Christ, 600 Midland Trail, Hurricane, Saturday, February 22 at 1:00. There will be no visitation.
