Obituary

Cecil Edward Dawson Jr., 75, of Cross Lanes, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.

He was born on August 6, 1944 in Charleston to the late Cecil Edward Sr., and Ocie Mae Dawson.

Cecil was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. Anyone who knew him enjoyed his lively sense of humor. He was always an entertaining story teller or good for a political debate depending on his mood. Cecil enjoyed deep sea fishing with his wife Sandy, vacationing in the Florida Keys and spending time with his family.

He was a successful businessman, owning and operating various businesses in the Charleston area.

Cecil proudly served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Dawson; children, Tangee Bennett and husband Dan of Charlotte, NC, Todd Dawson of Charlotte, NC, Billy Jeffers and Irandia of Weirton, Christina Jeffers of Huntington; brothers, James Dawson of Charleston, Audrey Dawson and wife Joyce of Cross Lanes, Jack Dawson and wife Robin of Charleston; grandchildren, Kydie Stefano and husband Jeff of Charlotte, NC, Emily Huff and husband Will of Columbia, SC, Halee Lapinsky and husband Elijah of Charlotte, NC, Anna Bennett of Charlotte, NC, Ashley Dawson of Yadkinville, Rebekka Dawson of Yadkinville, NC, David Jeffers of Barboursville, Bryan Jeffers of Huntington, Johnathan Hodge and wife BreAnna of Barboursville, Joseph Hodge of Salt Rock, Jacob Blakeley of Wellsville, OH, Nicole Jeffers of Nitro, Simone Megginson, of Cross Lanes, Zendaya Jeffers of Huntington, Taylor Jeffers of Huntington, Kylee Jeffers of Huntington, Kaylynn Jeffers of Huntington, Cameron Jeffers of Huntington; great grandchildren Jordan Haynes of Nitro, Kaylee Haynes of Nitro, Kayden Krantz of Barboursville, Brantlee Hodge of Barboursville, Aubree Hodge of Barboursville; former wife, Joyce Dawson; and very special family friend, Sarah Parkins.

A public walk through visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Due to COVID-19 the service and burial will be private.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
