Obituary

Rev. Charles "Chuck" Wesley Carter, 83, of Charleston went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2013 after a long illness.

He loved to sing and preach; he sang and traveled with the Carter Family and pastored at Lowland Baptist, Tyler Mountain and Garrison Avenue Free Will Baptist Church. He loved to race and build his own stock cars. He was devoted to his family, and enjoyed spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Wesley Carter and Martha Estella Carter; six brothers; four sisters; and two grandchildren.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Ethel A. Carter; children, Brenda and Albert Ashby, Calvin and Lucinda Carter, Becky and David McCallister, Terry and Brian Bock, Kelly and Mark Winnell, and Ginger and Roger Breeden; sixteen grandchildren; twenty nine great-grandchildren; brother, Homer Carter; and sisters, Betty Ann McGraw and Rosalee Parsons.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 6 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Rev. Steve Ashby and Rev. Johnnie Winnell officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 Friday April 5 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
