Obituary

Charles A. "Charlie" Fierbaugh, beloved husband, father, grandfather and servant of God, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at his home.

Charles served in the US Navy right out of high school and was aboard the USS Conserver during the Korean War. He retired from the Union Carbide Institute Plant in 1985. He was a kind and generous man who never met a stranger. He has been a long time member of the Dunbar Church of Christ, where he had been a dedicated Bible teacher for many years. He considered his family to be his greatest blessing. He was always there any time of day or night to lend a hand, give a big hug, shoulder to cry on, help financially or give advice. These things he gave his family and gave to anyone in need. He taught his children many things, like how to work hard as unto the Lord, strong family values, importance of sacrifice and giving of yourself and how to pray about everything, like he did. He was a little man in stature but was one of the biggest men when it came to showing and having strength, courage and faith. He was very proud to have served his country as a seaman, but more proud that Jesus was always the Lighthouse! We will miss him greatly and forget him never.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry W. and Fannie Fierbaugh, nine other siblings, numerous nieces and nephews and an infant son, Gary Lee.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lucille, with whom he just celebrated 55 years of marriage; son, Dana M. and his wife Judy and their sons, Wesley and Cody; son, Steven L. and his wife, JeanAnn and their sons, Joshua and Caleb; daughter, Linda D. Hall and her husband, Gary O. and their son, Evan and daughter, Jodi. Also surviving are sisters, Ruth Smith of Hershey, Pa and Sarah Comer of Columbus, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, January 19, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Minister Donnie Joe Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 18, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
The family suggests donations be made to HospiceCare, 1143 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064.
