Charles Lyndon Hanshaw, 64, of Sissonville, WV passed at home on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Charles was born in Montgomery, WV to the late Fred and Norma Potter Hanshaw.

He attended East Bank and Sissonville High Schools and then earned his GED in the Army.

Charles was honorable discharged from the Army where he was very proud of being an SP4 and a Motor Transport Operator. He then went on to work for Haliburton where eventually retired due to a medical issue.

He loved to fish and hunt, loved his family, and loved his grand babies. Charles also loved to tinker and loved to watch the History Channel. He was also known for his long-winded stories, and random facts.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Shaffer Hanshaw; his children, Jason Newhouse (Tracie) of Liberty, WV, Merscedes Hanshaw (Jonathan) of Nitro, WV, and Miranda King (Chris) of Sumerco,WV; his grandchildren, Klarie, Blake, Bentley, and Lilly; along with his 5 great grandkids.

A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025 in Massey Cemetery with Barry Meadows officiating.

The family would like to thank Teddy Payne for all the help and friendship he provided to Charlie through the years. The family would also like to thank all those who donated.
