Charles Ray "Charlie" Lacy 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
He was born at home on June 23, 1933, on 17th Street in Dunbar, to the late Paul O'Grady Lacy and Beulah Louise Cline Lacy.
He attended Stonewall High School then later joined the Army. He retired from McJunkin Corporation as a Pipeyard Foreman. He enjoyed model trains and thrift store bargains. He mostly enjoyed being with his family. He was a member of Dunbar United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Roberts Lacy; his beloved daughter, Karen Lacy Monty; his brothers, Paul "Snookie" Lacy, Gary Lacy and Larry Lacy;
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Lacy Connolly; sons, Chuck Lacy and Bill Lacy; along with his favorite daughter-in-love, Kim Buchanan Lacy; and his favorite son-in-love, Scott Monty; four grandchildren, Stephanie Brown Legg, Jonathan Brown, Chase Monty, and Jeremy Coulter; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Legg, Jonah Legg, Josie Legg, Payton Coulter, and Bradyn Coulter.
The family would like to thank all of the healthcare professionals who helped take care of Charlie. A special thank you to Hospicecare of Charleston, the Hubbard Hospice House, and the Huntington V.A. and a special thank you to Gary Laslo.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Rev. Joel Harpold officiating. Entombment will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday March 28, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
