Charles E. "Woody" Wood, 75, of South Charleston passed away on December 5, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House West after a short illness.

He was born in Missouri to the late Robert and Nadine Wood. Woody joined the U.S. Navy in May of 1962 and was a veteran of Vietnam where he served upon the U.S.S. Independence. During his service, he met his late wife, Shelia Pauley Wood. After moving to West Virginia he worked for FMC Steam Plant and retired with 36 years of service. Woody was a long time member of Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene serving multiple positions. He always welcomed his church family with a hug. He enjoyed traveling, trains, and the outdoors.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Clifford Wood.

Woody is survived by his children, Dawn Michelle Brown and husband Chris and Charles Nicholas Wood and wife Sarah; grandchildren, Xander and Lydia Wood; and a host of extended family across the United States.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 8 at Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene, South Charleston officiated by close friends. Burial will follow in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.

Family and friends may gather two hours prior to the service at the church.
