Charlotte Taylor Ginestra, 95, of Charleston, formerly of Dunbar, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Hubbard Hospice House West.
She was the daughter of the late Marshal I. and Blanche A. Taylor.
Charlotte's education included a B.S. in Education from West Virginia State University, a M.A. in Education from Marshall University and additional study at Ohio University and the University of Dayton.
Fulfilling her dream of becoming a teacher, she spent three years as a business education teacher at Stonewall Jackson High School and twenty-two years as an Associate Professor of Accounting at West Virginia State University. She often said that the pleasant memories of her many interesting and talented students had brightened her "rocking chair years."
She was a member of Dunbar United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ginestra, in 2007; and her sister, Earthel Nance of Rancho Cordova, California.
She is survived by her son, David M. Ginestra of South Charleston; grandchildren Mary Charlotte Ginestra of Dunbar, Catherine Lynn Ginestra of South Charleston and Anna Christina and Wayne Persinger of Covington, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Peyton Celeste Ginestra, John Caleb Persinger, Blake Xavier Walker, Joseph Carter Persinger, Dawson Miller Waldron and James Clayton Persinger; and sister, Shirley Votaw of Wolcottville, Indiana.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 24, at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens. A funeral procession will leave at 1:30 p.m. from Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Charlotte Ginestra Accounting Scholarship Fund, which she established, in care of the West Virginia State University Foundation, PO Box 1000, Institute, West Virginia 25112, or to your favorite charity.
